A Probabilistic Approach to Growth Networks

چکیده
Single-class closed queueing networks, consisting of infinite-server and single-server queues with exponential service times probabilistic routing, admit product-from solutions. Such solutions, although seemingly tractable, are difficult to characterize explicitly for practically relevant problems due the combinatorial complexity its normalization constant (partition function). In “A Probabilistic Approach Growth Networks,” Jelenković, Kondev, Mohapatra, Momčilović develop a novel methodology, based on representation product-form solutions large-deviations concentration inequalities, which identifies distinct operating regimes yields explicit expressions marginal distributions queue lengths. From methodological perspective, fundamental feature proposed approach is that it provides exact results order-one probabilities, even though analysis involves rate functions, only vanishing probabilities logarithmic scale.

Stock Market Fraud Detection, A Probabilistic Approach
In order to have a fair market condition, it is crucial that regulators continuously monitor the stock market for possible fraud and market manipulation. There are many types of fraudulent activities defined in this context. In our paper we will be focusing on "front running". According to Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, front running is a form of insider information and thus is very ...
متن کاملA Probabilistic Approach to Predict Peers? Performance in P2P Networks
The problem of encouraging trustworthy behavior in P2P online communities by managing peers’ reputations has drawn a lot of attention recently. However, most of the proposed solutions exhibit the following two problems: huge implementation overhead and unclear trust related model semantics. In this paper we show that a simple probabilistic technique, maximum likelihood estimation namely, can re...
متن کاملA Probabilistic Approach to Fault Diagnosis in Linear Lightwave Networks
The application of probabilistic reasoning to fault diagnosis in linear lightwave networks (LLNs) is investigated. The LLN inference model is represented by a Bayesian network (or causal network). An inference algorithm is proposed that is capable of conducting fault diagnosis (inference) with incomplete evidence and on an interactive basis. Two belief updating algorithms are presented which ar...
متن کاملA probabilistic approach to anomaly detection for Wireless Sensor Networks
Ambient Intelligence (AmI), as a specific discipline, has gained increasing attention from the academic and industrial communities in the past few years. Its distinctive feature is the focus on the connection between Artificial Intelligence and the latest generation of Home Automation. The aim of this new paradigm is to augment everyday life environments where electronic devices have been deplo...
متن کاملA Dynamic Approach to Probabilistic Inference using Bayesian Networks
In this paper we present a framework for dynamically constructing Bayesian networks. We introduce the notion of a background knowledge base of schemata, which is a collection of parameterized conditional probability statements. These schemata explicitly separate the general knowledge of properties an individual may have from the specific knowledge of particular individuals that may have these p...
